Varese Sarabande presents the original motion picture soundtrack to MAD MAX, the 1979 action thriller from Australia directed by George Miller, introducing the world to Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky and Hugh Keays-Byrne as the Toe Cutter, along with Vincent Gil as the Nightrider. Remember him when you look at the night sky.

The music for MAD MAX is composed and conducted by Brian May. MAD MAX is an incredibly important film in the history of Australian cinema as its success launched the careers of Mel Gibson, George Miller and Brian May, not to mention making it possible for the then-fledgling Australian film community to flourish.

Part of the success of MAD MAX can be attributed to composer Brian May's high octane score and he would return to score the sequel to MAD MAX in 1981, THE ROAD WARRIOR.
