From
out of space, a warning and an ultimatum…
Varese Sarabande
presents the soundtrack to THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, the
1951 science fiction classic directed by Robert Wise, starring
Michael Rennie as Klaatu and Lock Martin as Gort, featuring music
composed by the great Bernard Herrmann.
Varese Sarabande presents
this new recording, in 24-bit digital sound, of the complete score,
conducted by Joel McNeely. One of Herrmann’s most outlandish
musical concoctions, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL features two
theremins, three organs, two pianos, two harps, a wild array of
percussion, including three timpani, a brass section that includes
four tubas, plus a string trio and guitar.
Varese Sarabande continues
their series of new recordings of Bernard Herrmann music with
this release. Includes an original cover painting by Matthew Joseph
